Hot Date: Tips for a Heatwave Wedding
Although few and far-between, a heatwave in North Wales could cause some issues on your wedding day. North Wales is one of the best places to be in the UK when the sun is beaming, but here are some tips to make sure your guests are nice and comfortable on your wedding day.

1. Suitable Shade
If your wedding venue has an outdoor area you’re looking to make the most of - Get in touch with them to ensure there’s plenty of shade as well. It’s always a good idea to check with your venue ahead of time so they can make arrangements if needs be. Having an area that guests can go to cool down on their own accord will make sure that they can keep themselves comfortable and not over-heat!
If your wedding venue is mainly indoors…
2. Air Conditioning
…Air Conditioning is your friend! Have a chat with your venue to see what they can do to make sure that the indoor areas of your venue are nice and cool for you and your guests. People in suits are sure to get hot, so being able to cool down an area is incredibly important. Again, check with your venue ahead of your wedding day so they can make the right plans.
3. Hydration
Keeping hydrated is essential for high temperatures, wherever you are! If you’re at a wedding, where you’re likely to be enjoying a couple of alcoholic beverages, drinking water is even more important. Keep your guests watered by discussing with the bar ahead of the day. You want to avoid dehydrated guests, and remember to have some water yourself too - It may seem obvious, but forgetting to drink water during your celebrations is easier than you think!
Consider a dedicated drinking water area for people to help themselves to water whenever they feel like it, and consider asking your bar staff to offer water with every alcoholic drink to ensure people stay hydrated.
4. Outfits
As we mentioned earlier, people in suits get hot quickly!
Short sleeved shirts are a great way of being able to regulate body temperature during the day/night. You can keep the blazer on for the photos, but at 25 degrees+, no one will blame you for taking the blazer off to keep cool!
In terms of wedding dress - that’s your choice and is likely to have been made already. However, you may be able to plan a lighter dress to change into for the evening party so you don’t get too hot on the dancefloor!
5. Wedding Suppliers & Staff
Make sure your wedding suppliers are well hydrated and comfortable with plenty of places for them to go and cool down if they need to. If you have entertainment, make sure they are able to perform in the shade.
You can designate someone in your wedding party to check in with your suppliers every 45-60 minutes to make sure they’re comfortable and hydrated, and that they’re taking plenty of breaks in a hectic work-day!
6. Wedding Favours
If your wedding date is looking to be a really hot one - consider some heat-friendly wedding favours such as Water Bottles, Handheld Fans, Sun Cream (or Ice Cream!). Sometimes it’s difficult to think of the perfect favours, so why not let the weather help you decide?
